Alpha Boötis - The Brightest Star

     


Arcturus, also known as Alpha Boötis, is the brightest star in the constellation Boötes and the fourth brightest star in the night sky. It is a red giant star located about 36.7 light years away from Earth in the northern celestial hemisphere. The name "Arcturus" comes from the Greek word "kouros," which means "bear keeper" or "guardian of the bear."
